History of the Journal

The teaching pedagogy at ISBF, together with the application-oriented LSE curriculum has enabled students to inculcate a spirit of inquiry and dig deeper into the concepts. Students are constantly encouraged to relate the text-book concepts to real world events. At ISBF, we believe that students should learn how to think and not what to think. To develop such critical thinking skills, the ISBF Research Cell was set up wherein, students are encouraged and guided by the Research Cell faculty members to explore new questions or ideas and form their own opinions on real world issues. The unflagging efforts of Research Cell members resulted in interesting research work in the areas of monetary policy, international economics, macroeconomic growth models, data science and so on.

Such momentum among students led the Research Cell to organize an Inter-college Paper Presentation competition in the academic year 2020-21. The aim of the competition was to encourage students to undertake research which will enable them to develop skills that can go a long way towards making them innovators who contribute towards providing solutions to real-world problems. We received an overwhelming response with more than hundred research papers from both undergrad and postgrad students from colleges across the country in the field of economics, management and finance. These papers went through a strict plagiarism check and were reviewed by the referees. The selected papers were then adjudged by the esteemed jury consisting of former member of India’s Monetary Policy committee and one of the country’s leading macroeconomists, Dr. Chetan Ghate and Director of Adfactors PR, Dr. Samir Kapur. The journal consists of the top few selected papers from the competition including the winning paper written by two ISBF students. It also includes articles written by the ISBF faculty.
