The University of London (UoL), established in 1836, is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the United Kingdom. Comprising 17 colleges and 10 specialised research institutes, UoL has a long-standing history of academic excellence. The University of London International Programmes, established in 1858, is a unique endeavour to make UoL’s educational expertise and resources available to students across the globe. Under this programme, UoL has 29 Affiliate Centres in different regions of the world.
ISBF was granted a UoL Affiliate Centre status in India, in 2006, after stringent quality assessments. The facilities, faculty and academic standards at ISBF have been deemed equivalent to those provided at the University of London.
The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is one of the 17 colleges under the University of London. LSE is ranked 1st in the UK and 2nd among global universities for Social Sciences (Economics) and Management by the QS World University Rankings, 2019.
LSE provides academic direction for the undergraduate and graduate programmes taught at ISBF. All courses offered at ISBF are designed by the LSE and students are groomed to cultivate an exploratory and involved approach towards academics. ISBF students access to study material and online resources designed by the educators at the LSE. Exam papers are set by the LSE faculty, examinations are conducted at the British Council Centre and transcripts are sent to the LSE for grading. The results are declared globally along with all other Affiliate Centers across the world.

The only difference between a UoL student in UK and an international student at UoL is their location of study. A student in UK is present at a college campus in London while an international student is located in the campus of an Affiliate Centre. The academic credentials acquired by them are equivalent in all respects. The principle of equivalence is enshrined in the University’s Statutes.

Statute 66 (2)

‘Candidates granted degrees and other awards shall have attained the same academic standard irrespective of mode or place of study or examination.’

No, students do not have to be in London as a part of their course. ISBF offers a course structure designed by LSE, and the academic rigour associated the University of London, right here in New Delhi.

International students are taught the same course as the UK students. Examination papers for both UK and international students are set by the same academicians. Grading of both sets of answer scripts is also done at the same level of scrutiny and stringent evaluation. This implies that the academic standing of an international student is exactly the same as that of a student enrolled in the UK.

The graduate degrees at ISBF are globally recognised degrees awarded by the University of London. The final diploma includes the University of London logo and signature of the Vice-Chancellor and indicates London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE) as the lead college. All successful students are invited to attend the graduation ceremony in London. However, the cost of travelling and accommodation for this has to be borne by the students.
