  1. AI will perform tasks similar to grading, attendance tracking, scheduling and enrollment in courses keeping educators and administrators less busy with these duties to allow them time to devote to educating students and developing their curriculum/engaging with students.

  1. AI will be used to predict students who may fall behind and to forecast enrollment, develop resource allocation strategies, etc.

  1. AI has created the ability to use tools such as Speech Recognition/Dictation, Language Translation and Speech Synthesis that create greater access to education for students regardless of their learning preference.

AI in education presents several opportunities and challenges. On the positive side, AI can enhance scalability, providing high-quality education where teacher-student ratios are low, and support lifelong learning through reskilling and upskilling. It can also empower teachers by automating routine tasks, allowing more time for mentorship, creativity, and student engagement. Additionally, AI opens the door to innovative pedagogical models, such as gamified, simulation-based, and collaborative learning. However, there are significant risks to consider. Data privacy and security are critical, as AI platforms must handle sensitive student information responsibly. Bias in AI models is another concern, as skewed data can perpetuate inequalities. The digital divide also limits access to AI tools, particularly in under-resourced areas. Overreliance on AI could reduce critical thinking and diminish teacher-student interaction. Furthermore, teachers need proper training to effectively integrate AI into their classrooms and use it ethically. Lastly, governments must regulate AI’s role in education, setting policies around data usage, transparency, and assessment.
