Through this category, we want to identify and nurture excellence in a wide array of activities, not just by accepting admissions, but also by providing opportunities to further hone one’s skills.

ADMISSION PROCESS

The admission process under the ECA/CCA/Sports category will involve the following steps:

Step 1: Filling out the Application Form

Step 2: Trials

Step 3: Personal Interview

Step 1: Application Form

Candidates may fill the ISBF Application Form online or offline.

To apply online, click here.

To apply offline, candidates may download the Application Form here or obtain it at the ISBF campus. The form must be completed and submitted at the ISBF campus, via courier or in person.

Eligibility for applying

  • The candidate must either have completed Class XII, or be completing it in 2020.
  • Candidates from any stream, or studying any combination of subjects, may apply to any of the undergraduate programmes offered at ISBF, subject only to the below requirements:
    • Candidates applying for BSc (Hons) Economics or BSc (Hons) Economics & Finance must have studied, or be studying, Mathematics in Class XII
    • Candidates applying for BSc (Hons) Accounting & Finance, BSc (Hons) Economics & Management or BSc (Hons) Business & Management must have studied Mathematics up to Class X

Candidates will be asked to indicate their first and second choices of programme in the Application Form. Should they have any difficulty in making these choices, we would encourage them to proactively reach out to us for guidance.

The course choices, along with the Statement of Purpose that candidates write as part of the Application Form, are key components of the Personal Interview. In the Statement of Purpose, candidates are advised to highlight their academic and other strengths, including co-curricular and extra-curricular achievements.

In order for the Application Form to be deemed complete, candidates must submit all necessary documents as listed on the Application Form at the time of applying, whether online or offline, and must pay the application fee of INR 2,000 in full.

Candidates applying under the Extra-curricular/Co-curricular/Sports Category will not be required to appear for iMET, and will instead undergo trials if shortlisted.

While filling the online application, be sure to select this category under the “Programme Applied For” section and to upload the necessary documents in the “Enclosures” section.

You are required to upload your best 5 certificates for a particular activity over a period of 3 years (1 May 2018 to 30 April 2021). Undated certificates and documents will not be considered for evaluation.

Depending on the activity concerned, we would expect candidates to upload evidence of their credentials, continued success and accomplishment in their activity of choice while completing the ISBF Application Form. See Guidelines for Document Submission  for more details.

Please look carefully at the Guidelines for Document Submission under each activity to understand the Admissions Committee’s expectations. Where certificates are a necessary criterion, note that these can be from competitions at the Intra-School, Inter-School, Zonal, District, State, National and International Levels.

After successfully submitting the form, candidates will be issued an Admit Card confirming the trials and PI slots (dates and times) chosen by them in the Application Form. Candidates must have the Admit Card handy during the trials and carry it to the ISBF campus on the day of the PI.

Certificates uploaded by the applicant shall be scrutinised and evaluated by the Admissions Committee, which shall subsequently shortlist the applicant for the trials.

Step 2: ECA/CCA/Sports Category Trials

Following evaluation of the applications received, the Admissions Committee will shortlist eligible candidates for the trials that are scheduled for the 1st Week of July 2021. An announcement for the same will be made in the 3rd week/last week of June. A detailed schedule for the trials of various activities along with the location will also be updated on this page in due course of time.

On the day of the trial, the shortlisted candidates will be required to bring along with them the Admit Card issued to them at the end of the Application Stage. They will also be required to bring along with them the original certificates that they had scanned and uploaded while submitting their application to ISBF, along with other requisite documents. To know more, see our Guidelines for Document Submission.

While the trials for most activities will be conducted at the ISBF campus, the evaluation for the sports-based activities will be external venues that are located close to the campus. These sporting venues have hosted national & international sporting events in the past and are home to world-class facilities not just for our students but for professional athletes. Media-oriented activities, which require state-of-the-art equipment, will be evaluated at specialized facilities owned by Teamwork Foundation.

Each activity will have its own dedicated format for the trial which will be evaluated by eminent external adjudicators from the respective fields along with our esteemed faculty. Based on their evaluation of the trials, which hold 50% weightage as mentioned earlier, they will shortlist candidates for the third stage of admissions – the Personal Interview.

Please note the following important points:

  • The Complete schedule for the trials will be notified on the ISBF website.
  • The college reserves the right not to make admissions under a particular category if no candidate is found suitable.
  • The decision of the Admissions Committee shall be final and binding.
  • Students admitted under the ECA category are required to consistently participate in these activities throughout their college life.

Step 3: Personal Interview

Candidates shortlisted on the basis of the Trials will be invited to appear for the final step of the admission process – the Personal Interview (PI). Due to the ongoing pandemic, all PIs are currently being held online.

In the PI, a candidate is tested for communication, attitude towards learning, academic curiosity and motivation to study at ISBF and to study the programme of first preference. The candidate’s past extra-curricular/co-curricular/sports record, along with her/his academic record, as detailed in the Statement of Purpose in the Application Form, is the main basis of the PI discussion.

Yes, for students applying through the ECA/CCA/Sports Category, ISBF waives off the Entrance Examination, and instead evaluates the candidate’s ECA/CCA/Sports candidature through a careful scrutiny of your achievements, credentials and your performance at the Trials.
