Traditional economics has built a seemingly explainable notion around the causal effect of currency devaluation and (/or) depreciation on a nation's exports. The layman's explanation of the notion is that every dollar buying an Indian product will mean more rupees transferred to an Indian exporter in case the rupee loses its value. Simple logic has been around the books and is taught like a golden rule to economics and non-economic backgrounds students. This article is an attempt at de-bunking the prevalent notion.
