Xenia is our annual cultural fest. This year the Student Association of ISBF decided to call their fest’Nirbhaya Xenia 2013– a rising.’ Nirbhaya was the title given to the 23-year old Delhi gang-rape victim who was brutally and savagely assaulted. She was a diligent student, a dutiful daughter and a good friend. The atrocity sent shivers down the entire sub-continent. Rape victims typically invoke pity but not only did she fight for survival in those dark moments, but also rose as an inspiration for the whole nation. ‘We live in a society where girls are not safe inside, or outside the womb!’ It’s a shame. The indecency rampant in society has to be curbed. Nirbhaya Xenia- A Rising 2013’ is a step towards that direction. Through our cultural fest which invited students from all over Delhi and beyond, we provided a platform to pay tribute to Nirbhaya, who has become a symbol for every woman who stands up for herself and has zero tolerance for such heinous acts. This fest could be seen just as a reflection of a ‘network’ that the ISBF students wish to develop as a step to change the kaleidoscope of women safety, respect and dignity in our country. The fest aimed at pushing the participants’ potential with events ranging from various academic disciplines to cultural competitions.
