ISBF organised a Round Table Panel Discussion on THE UNION BUDGET 2018-19 and its likely implications on various sectors of the economy, with two eminent Economists as the Honourable Chief Guests- Tushar Arora, Senior Economist, HDFC Bank, and Abhijit Sen Gupta, Economist, Asian Development. The discussion included topics such as the effect on the budget across the service class, senior citizens, corporate sector, healthcare industry, the insurance industry and other sectors of the economy.
The session, hosted by Prof. Soumitra Mookherjee, was attended by students of Economics, Finance and Management across Undergraduate as well as Graduate Programmes, along with Dr. G.L. Tayal, Dean, ISBF, and Prof. Chiraag Mehta, Associate Dean, ISFB. The session started with Prof. Soumitra Mookherjee briefing the assembly on the Union Budget, following which, there were discussions on the topics of inflation, demonetisation, Current Account Deficit, Trade Deficit, ways to resolve the issue of primary health care in India, what the Budget entails for the salaried individuals, senior citizens and overall, the various sectors of the Indian economy. Multiple questions were later posed by the students and faculty of Economics, Management and Finance.
The discussion was concluded by Dr. G.L. Tayal, by giving a vote of thanks to the respected Guests of Honour and congratulating Prof. Mookherjee for organising this informative platform to students to interact with industry professionals, on a one on one basis. He also highlighted the pertinent reference given by Prof. Mookherjee, of the game-changing budget announcement by Dr. Manmohan Singh back in 1992.Read PreviousRead Next
