At ISBF we aim to impart information and increase awareness and sensitivity in students and teachers. We want to remove the stigma of ‘abnormality’ faced by LGBTQI individuals and reach a point where they are not discriminated against .The LGBTQI community faces a range of discrimination – many individuals have to lead double lives due to fear of rejection by families/friends, the majority face bullying in educational institutions that can force them to drop out, and the LGBTQI community has higher rates of depression and suicide. They don’t have full legal rights and certain groups have to resort to sex work to earn a living. LGBTQI individuals have fought back against this discrimination, but there is still a long way to go.
