Surely you’ve heard of counselling and training sessions preparing you to be self-assertive – Developing the art of saying NO. It isn’t something that comes naturally to some people. As a result, they are often pushed over, rammed, battered and over-worked. Some learn with experience, others never really learn. But things are changing and so are people. There was a time when we could never say NO to our teachers, parents or our seniors in general. Today, we don’t hesitate anymore to come outright blunt, often rude, and say NO. It is the over-confident, self-absorbed tone behind the ‘No’ that is of concern. How healthy is the move from the lack of confidence to over-confidence? I congratulate the Ed board on the first issue of The Gazette– some really thought-provoking content has emerged in this edition.
Keep it up!
