What is ACCA?
Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, or ACCA, is the world’s leading professional accounting body with more than 7 lakh students and members. Being some of the most sought-after accounting and finance professionals, ACCA qualified students have the opportunity to work in accounting as well as finance roles in markets like the UK, Europe, Australia, Canada, Dubai and Singapore, and are recruited by more than 7200 ACCA-approved employers.
An ACCA qualified professional is recognized worldwide and build careers in diverse roles including Accounting, Tax Consulting, Auditing, Business Valuation, Treasury Management, to name a few. The ACCA qualification is equivalent to the Chartered Accountant (ICAI) certification in India.
Why Pursue ACCA at ISBF?
To secure an ACCA qualification, normally, students have to clear 13 professional examinations and become qualified at an average age of 24-25 years, since they usually choose to pursue this professional qualification upon completing their undergraduate studies.
At ISBF, due to a recent collaboration between ISBF and ACCA, students can become ACCA qualified by the time they complete their undergraduate studies since they can start attempting the examinations immediately after their 1st year, i.e, at the age of 19.
Of the 13 examinations required to become ACCA qualified, students of ISBF’s BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance programme – which is offered under the aegis of the University of London and receives all academic direction from the London School of Economics – have been granted 8 exemptions. This enables ISBF students to start appearing for the remaining five ACCA exams after completing just their first year of undergraduate study.
This makes it possible for students of the Accounting & Finance programme at ISBF to receive an LSE education, earn the globally renowned University of London (UOL) degree and become ACCA qualified by the time they graduate. Aside from becoming ACCA qualified in less than half the time required by other students, ISBF students can also utilise the exemptions to qualify at less than half the cost incurred by others.
With the fee amounting to 1.9 lakhs as compared to a whopping 4.4 lakhs (more than double the amount students would pay at ISBF), the economic advantage is surely an important aspect to take into consideration. The ACCA and Accounting & Finance combination also help graduates in pursuing advanced education as these students can obtain UOL's MSc Professional Accountancy degree by completing a project and one module.
