| What is the relation between LSE and the University of London? |

| The University of London is one of the oldest and largest Universities in the U.K. Established in 1836, it enjoys a worldwide reputation for academic excellence in teaching as well as research. It has played a historic role in providing a wide range of educational opportunities of outstanding quality. The University of London degrees are recognized internationally for their quality and value.The University of London is a federal university made up of 20 colleges (such as London School of Economics, Royal Holloway, King’s College) and a number of specialized institutes. The London School of Economics and Political Science is the Lead College for the External undergraduate study in Economics. It is responsible for providing the academic direction of this programme. |

| What is the difference between a student enrolled in the U.K. and an external student? |

| A student enrolled in the United Kingdom studies full time at a college/institute of the University of London. As an external student enrolled in the University of London, you may follow a full time course at an institute teaching for a University of London degree in your home country. ISBF is one such institute teaching for a University of London Degree. |

| Is the academic standing of the student enrolled as an external student the same as that of a student enrolled in the U.K.? |

| The external students achieve exactly the same internationally recognized academic standing as those who study full time at a college/institute of the University of London. Examination papers are set and marked by the same academics of the University of London and to exactly the same standards that assess the full-time college based students studying at London. |

| Who awards the degree? |
 |

| Upon successful completion of your studies, you will be awarded a degree by the University of London. The degree, as per current practice, states, “The University of London, in association with The London School of Economics and Political Science “The University of London holds a “Graduation Ceremony”, in London, each year. All successful students are invited to attend the ceremony. You also can attend this ceremony. However, the cost of travelling to London for this purpose will have to the borne by you. You will also attend the ISBF Graduation Ceremony in Delhi. |

| Is the degree awarded to external students the same as that awarded to full time students enrolled at colleges/institutes of the University of London? |

| There is only one University of London degree and it is awarded to all students – whether regular or external, of the University. The degree itself carries the following extract from the Statute [66(2)] of the University: “Candidates granted degrees and other awards shall have attained the same academic standard irrespective of mode of place of study or examination”. Does the Degree mention External Student?No, it does not mention the word “external” in the degree. |

| Following the recommendations of the Equivalence Committee, the Academic Council of the University of Delhi “… has resolved (vide its resolutions of May 23, 2007 and February 2, 2008) that the BSc degrees in Economics, Management, Finance And Social Sciences of the External Study Programme of the University of London are equivalent to the Under Graduate Honours Degrees of the University of Delhi”.“The students with these degrees from the University of London External Study Programme would be eligible to appear for the Post Graduate Entrance Test of the Department of Economics, the Department of Commerce, the Faculty of Management Studies and Law Programme”. |

| How long does it take to complete the degree programme? |

| The minimum period for completing a Bachelor degree is three years. |

| When and where are the Examinations held? |
 |

| Examinations are held at the British Council, New Delhi on fixed dates in May/June each year. The papers are set and marked in London. |

| Who gives academic inputs for the Degree? |

| The same faculty that teaches students at LSE formulates the syllabus, develops the study material, sets examination papers and marks scripts. |

| What is the cost difference between studying at UK vis-à-vis ISBF? |
 |
|
| The average annual costs for staying in London (inclusive of Tuition Fee)is estimated to be approximately equivalent to Rs 18,00,000. Thus, the cost of pursuing a 3-year degree at LSE is estimated at Rs 54,00,000.The Fee requirement at ISBF is only RS. 3,20,000 per annum. This is inclusive of the fee payable to the University of London |

| What is the Diploma in Economics? |

| The diploma in economics is given after successful completion of the 1st year of the University London degree. It is equivalent to the first year of the degree. |

| What is the profile of the ‘ideal’ ISBF student? |

| At ISBF we are aware that each student has his own special strengths and unique talent. However, the course content of the Undergraduate programme of the London School of Economics assumes mathematical ability of high school level, for the degree in Economics.For the other degrees too, mathematical ability up to the Grade 10 level is a pre-requisite.In addition, proficiency in English is also necessary.A student who is able to function well in a course-content demanding of mathematical ability, who is able to communicate fluently in English; a student who understands that when he/she undertakes to study for one of the world’s most prestigious and sought-after degrees in Economics, they are committing themselves to three years of focused study and application to learning; a student who understands that higher education means exactly that, education that challenges us to our fullest potential, is the ‘ideal’ ISBF student. |

| A student who has taken BSc Economics programme, with four foundation units, (Diploma in Economics) can apply to the LSE for transfer into the second year of the programme. However, please note that LSE has a limited number of seats available and competition is fierce.The decision of the University would be based on the academic standing of the student |

| Are there any scholarships for students who wish to transfer to LSE in the One year? |

| There are two scholarships awarded annually by LSE to external students who seek transfer to the second year of study. The scholarship covers the tuition fee for the balance two years of study at LSE. ISBF will assist students in the application procedure. |

| How do I apply for a second year entry to other UK universities? |
 |
|
| For a transfer to the second year in any of the University of London Colleges/Universities you need to apply through UCAS. You need to fill the UCAS form, available on the UCAS website. ISBF provides assistance to students who wish to apply for a transfer. |

| Can a student who has completed his / her first year of the Degree transfer to a University in other countries? |

| Yes. However, if you are thinking of transferring to another University ( in Australia, the USA, Canada or New Zealand), it is advisable to contact the concerned University with your academic profile and choice of courses intended well in advance of the proposed date of joining. |

| What options do I have after completing my BSc Degree? |
 |
|
| The university of London degree is recognized worldwide. Therefore you can pursue postgraduate studies throughout the world. Other Universities in U.K. like Warwick, Manchester, Leeds, Nottingham, Leicester, accept graduates of the University of London for enrollment for a master’s degree. If, however, you decide to study for a master’s degree at one of the colleges of the University of London (including LSE), you have the advantage of completing your degree after only one year of full-time study. |

| Can I apply to LSE for a master’s degree? |

| LSE welcomes applications from external students. Many students from the External Programme have applied for and been accepted to the Post Graduate programme of LSE in the past. |

| The ISBF Career Forum has the responsibility of organizing on-campus recruitment fairs. In addition, it also provides students with expertise by way of honing their skills (CV writing, Interview skills) and by being a resource for relevant information. |

| At ISBF we are well aware of the critical role played by teachers. Each faculty member here brings a wealth of teaching experience as well as subject expertise. ISBF is also conscientious about seeking student evaluations with the purpose of reviewing the quality of teaching.
