The University of London
The University of London is one of the oldest and largest Universities in the U.K. Established in 1836, it enjoys a worldwide reputation for academic excellence in teaching and research. It has played a historic role in providing a wide range of educational opportunities of outstanding quality.

The University of London degrees are recognized internationally for their quality and value.

The University of London is a federal university made up of 20 colleges (such as London School of Economics, Royal Holloway, King’s College) and a number of specialized institutes. Of these, the London school of Economics and Political Science (LSE) enjoys a unique position, as an academic institution that has consistently been a standard bearer in the study of economics.

In 1858, the London University established its External System to offer its degrees to students who, for financial or other reasons, could not come to London to study on the University campus. The External System provides an opportunity to students to earn a University of London degree, without attending London-based colleges or institutes of the University.

The University, through its External System, has been offering degree programmes to students all over the world for last 150 years. The External System provides a wide range of undergraduate and post graduate degrees and diploma programmes. All students, whether they choose to study at the college’s London Campus or through the External system, are awarded the same degree or diploma by the University of London. ISBF offers students an opportunity to be enrolled as students of the University of London, with full teaching support provided right here, in New Delhi.

While ISBF imparts teaching as per the norms and regulations of the University of London, the academic evaluation (course content, study material, setting of exam papers, conduction of examinations and marking the scripts) is done by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

The London School of Economics & Political Sciences (LSE)
Since its foundation is 1895, LSE has been regarded as an international centre of academic excellence and innovation in the social sciences. Its teaching and research is recognized worldwide as a benchmark of quality. LSE alumni and former staff include 13 Nobel Prize winners and 30 past or present heads of state.

The LSE has been ranked the number one institute in U.K. in the fields of Economics and Finance by the Times “Good University Guide 2007”. In the 2007 ‘World University Rankings’, LSE was ranked third in the world for the social sciences. In published findings of the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), December 2008, Times Higher Education, it is stated that ‘ “ In separate subject rankings, LSE’s economics submission was particularly outstanding- the highest rated of any major subject, with 60% of their staff ranked as world-leading. ” ’

One may wonder how that impacts our students. This is the ranking and assessment of the faculty that is directing the course content, preparing the study material and is setting exams as well as evaluating the work of students enrolled for the courses on offer with us. The academic direction of the External Programme of the University of London is delegated to a particular college, known as the Lead College.

The LSE is the lead college of the University of London, entrusted with the responsibility of designing and developing various programmes for the University of London External system. It also provides the academic direction of various programmes of the London University including developing course content, writing subject guides, advising teaching institutes and academic monitoring through regular visits by its Director of External Study.

ISBF enjoys the distinction of being one of the select institutes world-wide, which has been accorded “Permission to Teach” by LSE & an Affilate Centre Status by the University of London.
