Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an educational simulation in which students can learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. MUN involves and teaches researching, public speaking, debating, and writing skills, in addition to critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities. This is a new Society introduced in ISBF this year which is lead by Aditya Sachdeva- The predident and Gunisha Arora – The Vice- President.
The society has planned events much in advance: The Annual Agenda (and activities therefore) will be divided in three parts. Every member must attend all the activities mentioned below, however, they will also be made available to a limited number of students who may not be a part of the MUN Cell. The three parts will be presented using a timeline (with deadlines).
Summary of Activities The three activities to be taken up by the MUN Cell are as follows:
MUN Training: Given that some of the members have no idea about MUNs, it’s essential that we organize a workshop to guide especially those who have no idea about MUNs. Other members who have attended some MUNs in past must also attend these MUN Training Sessions. ISBF students who wish to participate at ISBF MUN 2016 in some capacity, or in MUNs hosted by other colleges may also attend these Training Sessions. The sessions will be hosted either during ECA lessons, or after college hours only.
ISBF MUN 2016: This shall be an annual event hosted by the MUN Cell. The purposes for such an event are as follows:
- Students wishing to participate in MUNs hosted by other colleges may get a realistic idea about what to expect from an MUN.
- Organizing an MUN adds significantly to a student’s skillsets in terms of leadership and managerial capacities.
Participation in MUNs: This shall be an integral part of the MUN Cell. The society President & Vice-President will be responsible for informing all the members about the MUNs happening in the city. Based on interest shown by members of the MUN Cell, the MUN Cell will also be responsible to prepare a team of MUNers (or a delegation) to participate at an MUN hosted by other colleges. The MUN Cell will ensure participation in at least 3 external MUNs every year.
